Mr Ken Stein

Executive General Manager - Operations

Mr Stein has 40 years’ experience in mining, construction and marine services. The majority of his career has been in key leadership positions managing mining operations in Africa, Timor Leste and Philippines.

In Africa, Mr Stein was General Manager of BHP’s Angola operations for four years and in Botswana he was construction manager of a nickel mine and nickel processing plant for Lion Ore, where his team won the 2004 Western Australian Engineering Excellence Award for the construction of the plant.

In the Philippines, Mr Stein was CEO of Toledo Mining and National Manager of European Nickel where he managed all aspects of development and production of their respective nickel laterite projects.

Mr Stein resides in the Solomon Islands where he oversees all of Axiom’s development and mining operations.

Dr Phillip Tagini

General Manager – Sustainable Development

Dr Tagini works with landowners, national and provincial governments, and other stakeholders to develop relationships that ensure equitable and sustainable benefit sharing arrangements are put in place for the long term.

Dr Tagini has previously served as the top political advisor to the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands on law and policy in mining and energy.

Dr Tagini holds a degree in Law, a Masters in Investment Law and a PhD in Mining Law and Regulation in the Solomon Islands from Monash University. He is a qualified legal practitioner in the High Court and Court of Appeals in the Solomon Islands, is a sitting member of the board of the Solomon Islands National University and is a member of the Land Board within the Ministry of Lands.

Mr Clinton Rivers

Group Exploration Manager

Mr Rivers has over 25 years global experience leading teams in the tropics exploring for gold, coal, bauxite and in particular nickel laterites.

The majority of his career has been in nickel laterites for QNI and BHP Billiton. He has undertaken project development work from exploration through to feasibility studies, resource modelling and ore supply.

Mr Rivers experience in nickel has involved work in Australia, Cuba, Indonesia, Philippines, New Caledonia and Colombia. He also has experience in gold and copper exploration in Australia, Solomon Islands and PNG.

More recently he has completed an exploration and government Pre- Feasibility study on a large bauxite project in South East Asia for a major multinational mining company.

Mr Rivers has a Bachelor of Science with 1st Class Honours in Geology from the Australian National University and is a member of the AusIMM.
